Bossier Parish Library Events — September 9 through year’s end
A variety of events are taking place at libraries across Bossier Parish. At the central library at Bossier City, activities include Wednesday Dungeons & Dragons for Tweens and Teens, every other Wednesday from 4:30-6:00 PM. Chess Club on Tuesdays at 6:00-7:00 PM and an Adult “Get Crafty” event on Tuesdays from 11:00AM-12:00AM where you can get your craft on with projects for novices and experts alike! All materials provided along with in-person instruction.

Bossier Night Markets — starting September 10, every Saturday through year’s end, 4:00-9:00 PM
The Bossier Night Market returns on Saturday, September 10, from 4:00-9:00 PM. with fireworks! 175+ vendors, 12+ food trucks, free admission, free family fun, free kids' activities, and free Bossier swag and giveaways.
Beneath 75,000+ twinkling lights, enjoy food and live music while shopping for market goods and unique treats. There’s 12+ boutiques plus food trucks, tacos, wood crafts, jewelry, art, jams, seasonal gifts, jelly, salsa, donuts, clothing, vintage, ceramics, funnel cakes, accessories, spice and seasoning blends, cajun cuisine, metal and stone craft, wreaths, furniture, handmade goods, fruits, vegetables, paintings, decor, skincare, baked goods, candy, handcrafted soap, candles, crochet, honey, fresh-squeezed lemonade, roasted corn, crepes, churros, kids activities, and much more.
This pet-friendly event includes an indoor air-conditioned seating area and free parking. Located in the south parking lot of Pierre Bossier Mall.

R & R With History at the Bossier Parish Libraries History Center — September 12, 19, 26, and October 3 at 4:00 PM
The Bossier Parish Libraries History Center’s latest R&R with History—Read and React: 1 Book; 4 Evenings—is a discussion of the book "Other Powers-The Age of Suffrage, Spiritualism and the Scandalous Victoria Woodhull" by Barbara Goldsmith. The events will be skillfully facilitated by historian and Benton High School history teacher Rusty Beckham. Call to pre-register and reserve your spot. Story Trail Fun Time — Every 2nd Saturday of the month from 9:30 AM-12:00 PM
Join the Story Trail Adventure at the Red River National Wildlife Refuge in Bossier City. This event will occur on the second Saturday of every month from 9:30 PM to Noon. Learn about nature by reading a book outside, then participate in educational activities. Pages of a storybook are posted along the Orchard Trail. Walk the short trail and read a different book about nature each month. Crafts and mini-educational activities will be set up in the Education Center.

2022 Bossier City Farmers Market — starting Sept 10, every Saturday through Nov 26
The 2022 Bossier City Farmers Market is open every Saturday, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, April - November in the south parking lot of Pierre Bossier Mall. The market has more than 75 vendors with a wealth of local fresh veggies and fruits, food trucks, jams, salsa, honey, baked goods, jellies, pickles, tamales, handmade soap, flowers, kettle corn, BBQ, shaved ice, fresh-squeezed lemonade, pizza, real fruit smoothies, wood and metal crafts, art, southern comfort food, live music, face painting, balloons, and much more. They are even leashed-pet friendly!

Taste of Mardi Gras Competition — the first day of every month, 6:00-7:00 PM
Shreveport-Bossier Taste of Mardi Gras Chefs will compete to create the best Mardi Gras dish. This competition will be judged by a panel of renowned judges who will vote for their favorite dishes. The top three winning chefs (as voted by the panel of judges) will receive awards.
Tickets to the Taste of Mardi Gras Chef’s Taste Challenge will go on sale in October. Chefs wanting to participate in the competition will be accepted until October 7, 2022. Chefs, professional and non-professional, are invited to participate by contacting: [email protected] or 318-317-6901.
The sign-up and purchase tickets event will be held Friday, October 7, 6:00 PM at LeBossier in Bossier. The Annual Taste Of Mardi Gras event will be held in February 2023.

Old School DanceHall Fun — Thursdays at 6:00-9:30 PM
Old School DanceHall Fun will be held at the Summit in Bossier City every Thursday at 6:00 PM. For ages 35 & up, admission is $15 cash at the door per person with dance lessons and $10 without dance lessons. Dance Lessons will be provided by Ivan & Vicky Bean from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM. The band plays from 7:00 PM-9:30 PM. Brandy Roberts performs on the keyboard and Kerry Hunter on the drums. Cash bar available. Put on your dancing shoes and bring a friend for adult dance hall fun!

Chalk is Cheap Chalk Art Competition — September 24, 10:00-4:00 PM
The Bossier Arts Council and the East Bank District and Plaza are hosting another Chalk is Cheap: Chalk Art Challenge! Grab the household. Grab the staff. Head out to the East Bank for a fun day in the plaza! Do you have what it takes to be the Chalk Art Champion?
To add to the merriment, the East Bank District and Plaza will also have oversized games, music, and food trucks for the community to enjoy while they cheer on their favorite team!
At the Chalk is Cheap Chalk Art Competition, competitors will have 5 hours to complete their Chalk Art Masterpiece. Each team will receive a 5x5 area to create their Chalk Art Showpiece. Each team will receive a box of chalk (you may also bring your own). Each team may not have more than 4 members.
Judging will take place at 3:00 PM and winners will be announced at 4:00 PM. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

360 Red Tie Gala — October 7, 7:00-11:00 PM
The 2022 360 Foundation Red Tie Gala will be held Friday, October 7 at 6 p.m. at the LeBossier Event Center in Bossier City. The Gala will be a night of food, mask display, and a silent auction.
Join to put the “FUN” back in Fundraising. The Red Tie gala will be a formal, exclusive night with food and a silent auction. At this formal/semi-formal attire event, male guests are asked to wear a red tie, and ladies are asked to wear a red dress. The proceeds from this event benefit 360 Foundation's yearly programs supporting women and children.

Love Louisiana Art Contest 2022 — October 7, 6:30 PM
The 2022 Love Louisiana Art showcase will be held at the LeBossier Event Center in Bossier City on Friday, October 7 at 6:30 PM. Admission is free, but participants must RSVP by emailing [email protected].
The 2022 Love Louisiana Art Showcase is for Louisiana youth to share things they celebrate and cherish in Louisiana. The art contest asks youth to represent those moments, people, and things that have special meaning to them. There are four age groups: up to 7 years old, 8-12 years old, 13-16 years old, and 17-19 years old.
Love Louisiana is whatever it is that makes you happy. Participants are invited to create art that shows or represents their favorite people or activities for a chance to win ribbons and bragging rights.
There are two categories this year: Love Louisiana and What I Love to Do. The closing date for submissions ended June 30, 2022.

Bossier City Makers Fair — October 15, 11:00 AM-6:00 PM
The Bossier City Makers Fair, a celebration of handcrafted goods, crafts, arts, and foods, returns on Saturday 10/15/22! Shop local with 130+ handmade makers and vendors! It features 4 separate large groups of all handcrafted artisans showcasing everything from pottery, stained glass, knitting, art, upcycled furniture, soap, jewelry, home décor, clothing, and so much more. Meet the makers and shop by buying local, one-of-a-kind creations. Grab a bite to eat, browse the handmade maker booths, and enjoy the atmosphere. There will be live music and fun activities for the whole family. Face painting, bubbles, balloons, bouncy houses, and games will be provided in a safe environment.

Want to venture just beyond the city limits?
Those interested in being involved with something really special should check out Chimp Haven, a sanctuary that’s a short 25-minute drive outside of Bossier City. On 200 acres of beautiful, forested open space, more than 300 chimpanzees are living the good life. Chimp Haven offers a number of yearly events, a few of those taking place this fall:
Chimp Life Photography Experience – October 14, Noon-3:00 PM
This experience, led by Chimp Haven’s resident photographer, is open to professional and amateur photographers interested in photographing the chimps.
Registration includes a private tour of the sanctuary and a special opportunity to view and photograph the chimps in their forested habitats and open-air corrals, tips, and tricks for shooting the chimps from Chimp Haven’s photographer, private access to the Chimp Haven merch store, and free admission to Chimpanzee Discovery Day.
Attendees are responsible for bringing their own photography equipment. All travel arrangements and transportation to and from the sanctuary are the responsibility of the attendee. Chimp Haven is happy to provide recommendations for lodging, dining, and things to do during your visit.
Chimpanzee Discovery Day – October 15, 9:00 AM-Noon
Two times each year, Chimp Haven opens its doors for a morning full of chimpanzee discoveries! During Chimpanzee Discovery Day, visitors can observe chimp families in their forested habitats, and hear chats from our expert staff about chimp behaviors, veterinary care, enrichment, and more.
- Interactive stations featuring info about life at the sanctuary.
- A hayride-style tour (additional ticket required).
- Admission is $10 for ages 6 and older and Free for ages 5 and younger.
- Tickets may be pre-purchased online until 3:00 PM the day before the event, or, a limited number of tickets may be purchased in person at the admissions gate.
Chimp Chat — October 15 & November 12, Noon-2:00 PM
Chimp Chat is a special tour for an exclusive group of chimp lovers, with a behind-the-scenes look at life at the sanctuary and in-depth conversation with the experts on the Chimp Haven staff. Events this fall will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, Noon–2:00 PM, Saturday, November 12, 2022, 10:00 AM-Noon, and Saturday, November 12, 2022, 2:00–4:00 PM. Ages 10 and up.
